Popular, Oregon-based bike-blogger, Jonathan Maus, posted a news piece titled, "To boost business, Beaverton will build separated bikeways on Western Ave," on October 17th, 2017. In the article, Maus describes the City's plan to reduce driving-only lanes and add dedicated lanes for biking and walking. This 'road diet' project is part of a prioritized list within a larger plan called the West Five Strategy. Leland Consulting Group's Alisa Pyszka led the consulting team working with the city on the West Five Strategy to increase economic activity and attract and retail future talent, in the industrial area surrounding Western Avenue. The City anticipates the project to begin late 2017.
